Services and subscriptions covered:

  • Vansync add-on for Google Sheets

  • Vansync database synchronization

  • Vansync API

  • Google Data Studio reports

The term Vansync Applications apply both to Vansync add-on for Google Sheets and Vansync database synchronization.

Vansync add-on for Google Sheets

This add-on is designed to send data per user request from a Google Sheets file to an AWS data warehouse.

Vansync add-on for Google Sheets uses Google APIs to read information for a given Sheets document that is stored in your Google Drive account. Vansync add-on uses Apps Script to make data validation, data extraction and make a copy in comma-separated values in your Google Drive account. Data is then compressed in a ZIP file and sent to a custom AWS S3 bucket.

Vansync add-on for Google Sheets needs your permission to read and write files on your Google Drive account. We only read and write data related to the Sheets document where you previously activated Vansync add-on. Data read/write happens only by user request via the integrated Sheets menu "Factor BI \ Send data". Application read, write and data send activity is triggered only by the mentioned integrated Sheets menu. Our servers will never access remotely your data.

As the main purpose of this application is to enable the operation of a private AWS data warehouse with your information, we do not share, copy or modify the information unless you ask us to do so and provide a written authorization. You decide and have control whether the data warehouse runs on your own AWS account or on an account hosted by us.

Vansync database synchronization

This Windows program is designed to read data from on-prem databases and send result sets to an AWS data warehouse.

Vansync database synchronization uses the following connectivity libraries:

Data synchronizations can be executed manually or triggered by a task (usually by Windows Task Scheduler). You have full control of which queries are sent to the on-prem databases via the configuration files, more information here. Result set data queries are saved on comma-separated values on the local machine in the folder %localappdata%/vansync. Data, table metadata and configuration files are then compressed in a ZIP file and sent to a custom AWS S3 bucket. Data upload to S3 is made though AWS SDK library for .NET and using SSL.

Vansync database synchronization requiere that you configure the database, user and password from where data is extracted. This information is stored on the local machine and encrypted. Our servers will never access remotely your data or databases.

As the main purpose of this application is to enable the operation of a private AWS data warehouse with your information, we do not share, copy or modify the information unless you ask us to do so and provide a written authorization. You decide and have control whether the data warehouse runs on your own AWS account or on an account hosted by us.

Vansync API

This API is hosted within our AWS accounts and is called every time new data is received from Vansync Applications. The API logs technical information to help us debug technical problems that may occur within the API. Logs are retained for a cycle of 14 days after which data is automatically deleted. No customer data is stored in this logs. Technical data include source OS name, browser type, IP and application configuration.

The main purpose of this API is to deliver the data to the AWS account and database configured in Factor BI Console.

Data retention and logs

Along with the data read from Google Sheets (Vansync add-on) and the data retrieved from on-prem databases (Vansync database synchronization), Vansync Applications send OS name and version, browser type, IP and application configuration to help us debug technical problems that may occur within Vansync Applications. This information is stored in Factor BI AWS account and retained for a cycle of 5 days. Data is automatically deleted after the cycle. We do not retain for a longer period of time, modify, transfer, share, access, copy, download or read the information unless you ask for support and provide explicit permission to do so.

Vansync database synchronization configuration files received do not include the password used to connect to on-prem databases.

Google Data Studio reports

We use Google Data Studio to deliver reports to our customers. Users of these reports must accept the Privacy Policy of this Google product, explained here.
